Jon’s 3D Printed Shoe Manufacture System, Made In…Shoes, spun out of a university final project. In his research phase, he learned that more than 1 billion people are at risk for soil borne diseases such as Tetanus, Hookworm and Jiggers. He decided to design a shoe that could be locally made and affordable. His shoe design went through 17 iterations until he realized a viable result. Click to learn more about Jonathan.
He is an entrepreneur and enabler. Founded Ed-Tech startups. Is a Space-Tech lover. Published several papers and speaks at conferences. Because that is not enough, he runs and supports start up ecosystems in Nagpur and Aurangabad, India. He’s a Mechanical engineer by education and built India’s only Batpod. Field Ready solves big challenges with local manufacturing. We do this by working in emergencies and reconstruction, using a range of technologies and engaging people in new ways. The Made In Shoes (MIS) project is an open source, scalable 3D printed shoe manufacture system designed for the low-tech, highly customizable and hyper-local manufacture of highly durable and repairable natural rubber shoes in the developing world.
